UK TV Premiere Dates: 2023 Calendar

You could go outside. Stick your face in the sunshine, watch a seagull peck at a bin in the park, do the awkward no-after-you dance with a fellow human being on a narrow pavement. But really, is it worth the bother? Inside is where it’s really happening. Inside is where the television lives.

The big news round these parts is of course the second series of excellent Prime Video fantasy comedy Good Omens, starring David Tennant and Michael Sheen and out on Friday the 28th of July. On that television currently in the UK, tucked in alongside all the sport, we have new Sarah Phelps-written true crime drama The Sixth Commandment, starring Timothy Spall, plus the long-awaited UK arrival of excellent US drama The Bear‘s second season on Disney+.

Cult comedy fans should tune in to BBC Two’s 10pm 1990s comedy repeats (Big Train, The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer, etc.) but if it’s new drama you’re looking for, then ITV1 has the UK broadcast runs of original series A Spy Among Friends, plus Riches and Irvine Welsh’s Crime, along with Sky Max’s thriller Then You Run. And for retro sci-fi fun, Paramount+ UK now has the Quantum Leap reboot.

We’ll update this list of TV highlights weekly with more shows, dates and times as the release announcements arrive. If you’re based in the US, here’s where to look for the relevant info.
