You could go outside. Button up your winter coat and venture into the February air to watch the first spring flowers burst through frost-rimed soil as proof of life’s continual, surprising triumph against the cold and the dark. But really, is that worth the bother? Inside is where it’s really happening. Inside is where the television lives.
Here’s a big look ahead to the new British drama coming up in 2024. ITV1 and BBC One have two original political dramas in the form of Breathtaking and The Way, while BBC Three has a teen comedy-drama to rival Sex Education in new series Boarders. Fans of US imports are well served in February, with the arrival of HBO pirate comedy Our Flag Means Death‘s second series and the latest season of Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, plus the second run of the Halo videogame-based TV show, if that’s your bag. It’s awards season too, and now that the Baftas have aired, fans of the Oscars will have a long and shiny ceremony to enjoy on TV soon.
And now begins the looooooooong wait until May, when Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson return in the TARDIS for the new Doctor Who episodes. See the first trailer here.
We’ll update this list of TV highlights weekly with more shows, dates and times as the release announcements arrive. If you’re based in the US, here’s where to look for the relevant info.
