You could go outside. Stand on the pavement for a brief moment to savour some warm sun on your back while filling your lungs with fresh air and the bubblegum-flavoured vape clouds of schoolchildren. But really, is it worth the bother? Inside is where it’s really happening. Inside is where the television lives.
Here’s a big look ahead to the new British drama coming up in 2024. This week, there’s a fresh series of Star Trek: Discovery starting on Paramount+, as well as Netflix’s chilly Patricia Highsmith thriller Ripley, starring Andrew Scott, followed by royal scandal film Scoop feat. Billie Piper and Gillian Anderson, plus the third series of teen spy adventure Alex Rider on Prime Video. Wunmi Mosaku continues to lead creepy new Brit mystery Passenger on ITV1. Over on Netflix is still big, thinky sci-fi 3 Body Problem if you still have to catch up with that.
And we’re still in the looooooooong wait until May 11, when Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson return in the TARDIS for the new Doctor Who episodes. See the first trailer here. It must almost be time for another one.
We’ll update this list of TV highlights weekly with more shows, dates and times as the release announcements arrive. If you’re based in the US, here’s where to look for the relevant info.
