UK TV Premiere Dates: 2024 Calendar

That’s your lot. Until the Paralympic Games Paris 2024 begin in a few weeks, the Olympic Games are over. No more hearing your neighbours through the wall cheering on Team GB in the 400m Relay, no more fun and fleeting national obsessions with background players such as the man who retrieves rogue swimming hats from the bottom of the pool, or the magnificently curly haired official who carries the trays containing the medallists’ posters, and no more wondering where Clare Balding gets her blouses – the closing ceremony has closed.

What that means for UK TV viewers is the gradual return of actual television to the schedules. There’s new Only Connect, University Challenge, Who Do You Think You Are?, Celebrity MasterChef, Celebrity Race Across the World and soon, new Great British Bake Off. If none of that excites you, then this is a great time to catch up on any overdue US imports. May we suggest the truly great Interview With the Vampire on BBC iPlayer (series two arrived on Aug 1) and the lots-of-fun Only Murders in the Building on Disney+ (series four arrives Aug 27)?

Other than that, you can spend your time speculating about Doctor Who series 15, and enjoying new six-part series Supacell, which came to Netflix on June 27 and tells a time-twisting story about a group of Black Londoners who develop superpowers – read more about that here.
