Oscars 2026: The Complete Nominee List (Updating Live)

We come to it at last, the morning where Oscar dreams are realized. Or: at least they come a lot closer to the actualization of little gold men in one’s hand while standing atop a stage. The 98th annual Academy Awards are still not quite two months out, but before we get too far into the New Year, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is sharing its short lists for the best of the year that was.

It’s been a mercurial year for cinema, but also a good one for anybody who walked into a theater in 2026 eager to bask in a spectacle that featured filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson at his most thrilling and action-oriented, or fancied seeing double while staring at Michael B. Jordan. Their films, One Battle After Another and Sinners, are expected to clean up well in terms of Oscar nominations, however we suspect they will be far from alone among the frontrunners. Can Timothée Chalamet’s ping-pong Cinderella story, Marty Supreme, continue over-performing all its way to a short list in Best Director for Josh Safdie? And can the entire cast of Sentimental Value get its much overdue value in nominations after being snubbed by the Acting Awards?
