The D23 Expo is a Disney showcase where all kinds of things from the brand are announced. This isn’t limited to park attractions, since for a long time Disney has bought many brands, Marvel and Star Wars being at the forefront, so fans of all ages are eager to know what the future holds.
The 2026 rendition had a lot to share for fans of any kind of Disney content, with many of them being sequels to beloved movies/shows. There are new things to be excited about as well, many of which are brand new IPs for the animated juggernaut. These are what we found to be the most relevant.
Incredibles 3
Pixar gave fans a first look at Incredibles 3, bringing the Parr family back for another superhero adventure. The focus this time around will be the children, Violet and Dash, and the sequel is scheduled to arrive exclusively in theaters on June 16, 2028.
Kingdom Hearts Is Becoming a Series
Disney and Square Enix announced a new Kingdom Hearts animated series for Disney Channel and Disney+. The project is being developed with Tetsuya Nomura and will tell a new story expanding the franchise beyond its existing games, likely to expand on the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 4.
Ghost Market
Pixar unveiled Ghost Market, an original supernatural adventure set around a hidden Oʻahu restaurant serving spirits caught between life and death. A young boy named Kyle accidentally enters this strange world in the film, arriving in theaters in March 2028.
Coco 2
Coco 2 will reunite audiences with Miguel, now a teenager, for another journey into the Land of the Dead. Disney also confirmed Ernesto de la Cruz will return, despite his fate in the original, for a November 2029 theatrical release.
The Bluey Movie
Bluey is officially heading to the big screen, with D23 debuting the first teaser and poster. The CG-animated movie follows Bluey and her family through an action-packed day and arrives in theaters August 6, 2027.
Tangled Gets the Live-Action Treatment
Disney showed off its upcoming live-action Tangled, currently filming in Spain with Teagan Croft and Milo Manheim as Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. Diego Luna joins as a new character, while the movie is scheduled for March 31, 2028.
Percy Jackson Season 3
Percy Jackson and the Olympians unveiled its season-three teaser at D23, adapting The Titan’s Curse. The presentation featured an army of Artemis’s Hunters, while the new season is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ November 20, 2026.
Oswald Returns From Disney’s Past
Jon Favreau introduced Oswald, a live-action animated hybrid series bringing Disney’s original cartoon rabbit into the modern world. The story begins when an earthquake releases Oswald from hiding, sending him into an adventure with several young friends.
Romy & Michele 2
Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow reunited at D23 to promote Romy & Michele 2, continuing their cult comedy’s story decades later. The sequel will premiere exclusively on Hulu in 2027 and features Alan Cumming alongside the returning duo.
Ice Age: Boiling Point
Ice Age: Boiling Point received an exclusive clip featuring Scrat, Baby Scrat, and the bizarre new Jurassic Scrat. The prehistoric adventure sends the returning herd into the dangerous Lost World, with a theatrical release scheduled for February 5, 2027.
Lilo & Stitch 2
The live-action Lilo & Stitch sequel is officially moving forward, with production scheduled to begin in Hawaii later this year. D23 also revealed Angel, Stitch’s pink counterpart, while Chris Sanders returns to direct the sequel for May 2028.
Gatto
Pixar’s Gatto follows Nero, a scrappy black cat living in the superstitious streets of Venice. After falling into debt with a feline mob boss, Nero is forced into an unexpected friendship while searching for his purpose.
Ahsoka Season 2
Star Wars: Ahsoka Season 2 received its first teaser, with Rosario Dawson returning alongside Hayden Christensen and Eman Esfandi. The story sends Ahsoka and Sabine into an unfamiliar world while Thrawn and his allies threaten the New Republic.
VisionQuest Trailer
Marvel unveiled the first trailer and poster for VisionQuest, bringing Paul Bettany’s Vision back alongside James Spader’s Ultron. Vision is hiding after escaping those who wanted to weaponize him, while a mysterious boy may be connected to his past.
Star Wars: Starfighter
Ryan Gosling officially joined the Star Wars universe with Starfighter, a new theatrical adventure directed by Shawn Levy. Set in a previously unexplored corner of the galaxy, the film follows a cynical rogue pulled into a dangerous journey.
Hexed Adds Two Major Voices
Disney’s Hexed added two enormous names to its voice cast at D23. Walton Goggins will play a magical three-eyed cat named Beef Roger Crummchuk, while Jodie Foster voices the sinister Queen Celeste.
Zootopia 3 Is Officially Happening
Disney Animation confirmed Zootopia 3 is officially in early development, following the enormous success of the franchise. D23 attendees even received an exclusive custom sequence, although Disney has not yet announced a release date.
Frozen 3 Teases a New Villain
Frozen 3 closed the D23 showcase with new animation featuring Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Kristoff, and Sven. The footage also teased a mysterious new villainess whose powers apparently rival Elsa’s, ahead of the film’s November 24, 2027 release.
